WRC CONFERNCE ON WOMEN IN WATER AND SCIENCE AND THE IMPACT ON COVID-19

This conference forms part of the WRC 50 Year Celebration campaign and will be hosted from 18th to 19th March and falls within National Water Week 2021 , this an opportunity to reflect on the role of women in water research science. We will, through a conference format, illustrate the gradually transforming role of women in water research science and challenge the existing paradigm where not enough women play leading roles alongside their male counterparts. This event is set only a few weeks after the International Day of Women and Girls in Science Celebrated annually on 11th February and serves as acknowledgement of the progress made in achieving the 2030 Developmental Agenda and its 17 Global Goals. Science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals, while the global science community has made an effort in inspiring and engaging women and girls in science, this cohort continues to be excluded from participating fully in science.
