Physician Wellness and TMA Legislative Update

Join TMA members for a virtual CME* presentation on physician wellness and featuring a TMA Legislative Update.
Michael Baron, MD, medical director of the Tennessee Medical Foundation, will join TMA president Ed Capparelli, MD, in discussing best practices for reducing stress and promoting well-being within physician practices.
Rae Bond, Executive Director of the Chattanooga Hamilton County Medical Society, will also be on hand to discuss LifeBridge, the medical society's physician well-being initiative created by CHCMS and the Medical Foundation of Chattanooga.
The discussion will then turn to a recap of the 2022 session of the Tennessee General Assembly led by Yarnell Beatty, TMA senior vice president and general counsel. The conversation will feature a list of successes achieved by TMA's advocacy division and a look ahead to priorities for 2023.
TMA members across the state are welcome to join and participate. The event is free but registration is required.

He came to the TMF after serving as medical director for The Ranch, a 120-bed residential treatment center located in Nunnelly, TN. Board certified in psychiatry, anesthesiology and addiction medicine, Dr. Baron has practiced in the Nashville area since 1998. He had a private psychiatry practice for 12 years; he also served in various treatment settings at Parthenon Pavilion and at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital. Dr. Baron remains a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and currently provides pro-bono psychiatry services to the Davidson County Drug Court. He recently became President-Elect of the Federation of State Physician Health Programs (FSPHP) following the organization’s 2022 Annual Meeting. Yarnell Beatty (Senior Vice President and General Counsel @Tennessee Medical Association) Yarnell Beatty joined the Tennessee Medical Association in 2001 as general counsel to the largest medical organization in Tennessee. In 2004, he was appointed to oversee TMA’s legal, government affairs, insurance, and eHealth departments. He was promoted to Vice President of Advocacy in 2013 and named Senior Vice President in 2017. Prior to joining TMA, Beatty served as staff counsel to the Tennessee Department of Health and held positions in the Department as Executive Director of the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners and Director of Health Related Boards. Rae Bond (Chief Executive Officer @Chattanooga Hamilton County Medical Society) Rae Bond is the Chief Executive Officer of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society, the Medical Foundation of Chattanooga, and Project Access, a community health partnership to coordinate charity care for low-income uninsured residents of Hamilton County. She has served the Medical Society and its related organizations for a total of 18 years (1995-1997 and 2003-present).
