For over 25 years Dr. Hopper’s research and consulting work have focused on the psychological and biological effects of sexual assault, child abuse, and other traumatic experiences. As a clinician Dr. Hopper works with adults who have experienced assault or were abused as children. In his forensic work he testifies on short- and long-term impacts of child abuse and sexual assault. Dr. Hopper consults and teaches nationally and internationally to civilian and military investigators, prosecutors, judges, victim advocates, commanders, and higher education administrators. In 2022, End Violence Against Women International recognized Dr. Hopper with its Professional Impact Award “for his substantial role in improving responses to sexual violence, both directly in the lives of individual victims and through the agencies and systems that serve them.” Christopher Wilson, Psy.D. (Director @Being Trauma Informed) Dr. Chris Wilson is a retired licensed psychologist from Portland, Oregon. For eighteen years he worked with victims and perpetrators of crime, including for seven years with the Oregon Department of Corrections, and performed psychological evaluations. He currently trains nationally and internationally on a variety of issues including the neurobiology of trauma, vicarious trauma, and being trauma informed, and testifies as an expert in both civil and criminal trials. He’s provided training, plenary, keynote, and breakout sessions for conferences and organizations across the United States, Canada, Italy, and Denmark, including the National District Attorney’s Association, US Department of Justice, the US Department of the Interior, the US Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force, the US Office for Victims of Crime, End Violence Against Women International, the National Organization for Victim Assistance, the National Crime Victim Law Institute, and the New York Police Department. Davut Akca, Ph.D. (Assistant Professor in Criminology @Lakehead University) Dr. Davut Akca is an Assistant Professor in Criminology at the Interdisciplinary Studies department of the Lakehead University. He completed his PhD in Forensic Psychology and M.A. in Criminology at Ontario Tech University. After completing his graduate studies, he worked as Research Officer at the Centre for Forensic Behavioral Science and Justice Studies for 2 years (2019-2021). Dr. Akca's research interests fall within the domains of investigative interviewing, program evaluation, radicalization, and hate crimes. Before his graduate studies, he served as a ranked police officer and crime analyst at the Anti-Organized Crimes Department of the Turkish National Police for five years.
