with Alexis K. Johnson

Alexis is a UK based creative producer/director and practicing artist working in combined arts. She is a co-director of Gathenhielmska Foundation in Sweden where she co-develops new artistic productions. She is undertaking her PHD in co-creation and combined arts at University of South Australia.
She has been Learning Director at Walk the Plank and Institute of Contemporary Arts and has been an associate lecturer for London South Bank University and Birkbeck University of London. Her participatory arts company AKArts (2003-2014) serviced London‘s communities, with highlights including Westminster City Council‘s Cultiral Olympiad, exhibiting at Tate Britain, producing festivals and productions as V&A, British Film Institute and Hyde Park. A study of her socially enaged practice has been published (2011) Playing for Life, Palgrave MacMillan. Her work with British Council has given her the opportunity to work with Rio Cultural Olympiad in Brazil, the festival sector in West Africa and artists in the Middle East. She has led cultural production training and tours across Europe in partnership with a number of European Capitals of Culture. Alexis is part of a global network of ‘Collecive Moves‘ artists, her name means ‘helper‘ which is exctly what she does through her socially engaged practice.
