To better understand founder, Blair Niles, and some of the early members of the Society of Woman Geographers, I traveled to a dozen countries. I stayed in a Dyak longhouse, rode the Darjeeling Himalayan Railroad, visited Devil's Island, and rode in a bullock cart in Sri Lanka. I will highlight these travels in this presentation and tell some of my favorite stories from The Girl Explorers.
Jayne Zanglein is passionate about publicizing the accomplishments of women ignored by history and chronicling the challenges women face today. Like the founding members of the Society of Woman Geographers, she believes that marginalized groups become visible through empathic reporting, law, and democracy. Before the coronavirus curtailed her travels, Zanglein visited 58 countries. She is a lawyer by profession, and this is her first non-lawbook. Visit her at thegirlexplorers.com
