On February 3, 2023, 1:00-2:00 PM UTC, Dr. Tamer Abu-Alam will present CloudEARTHi: Building innovation capacity for the use of Big Data in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Circular Economy and diversity in society.
CloudEARTHi is a pan-European initiative funded by the HEI Initiative, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe. The CloudEARTHi initiative includes 3 projects and brings together a consortium of 21 partners from 13 European countries to review, assess and improve institutional innovation & entrepreneurship practices with an aim to build capacity for innovation across HEIs, students & businesses in the area of big data, environmental science, sustainability, circular economy and diversity in society (referred to hereafter as the “subject area”). The consortium´s vision for 2030 is to build capacity for innovation across HEIs, students & businesses in the subject area. This area has been assessed as a key strength of our consortium, and is essential to society in order to understand, adapt to and mitigate against the climate crisis and wider sustainability issues, building entrepreneurial and innovation capacity across all actors in society.
The CloudEARTHi contributes to seven of the Sustainable Development Goals (i.e., SD4 – quality education, SD13 – climate action, SD9 – industry, innovation and infrastructure and SD5 – gender equality, SD10 - reducing inequality within and among countries, SD12 - ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, SD16 - promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels, and; SD17 - strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development).
