Just ask Oprah or Maria Shriver who have recognized Lori for cutting-edge approach to shift dementia care from crisis to comfort around the world. Her own mother lived with dementia for thirty years. In 2009, Lori launched Alzheimer’s Speaks, an advocacy and multi-media company giving voice to all, including those living with dementia. Her multiple platforms educate, raise awareness, shift perceptions, and share resources with families and professionals regarding all forms of dementia and caregiving. Lori is also a sought after speaker and trainer. Her most recent projects are Dementia and the Arts where people living with dementia show off a variety of artwork and Dementia Map global resource directory of which she is a cofounder. Lakelyn Hogan Eichenberger, Ph.D (Gerontologist and aging advocate @Home Instead) Lakelyn Hogan Eichenberger, Ph.D. serves as gerontologist and aging advocate at the global headquarters of Home Instead®. Lakelyn began her career at the local Home Instead franchise in Omaha working one-on-one with seniors and CAREGivers. Today, Lakelyn works to educate professionals in aging, families and communities on the unique challenges older adults face and the resources available to help them thrive. Lakelyn earned a Ph.D. in Gerontology from the University of Nebraska – Omaha and has professional experience in the private and public sectors of senior care services. She has spoken at national and international conferences on the topic of caregiving and aging, and serves as a resource to major media including Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz. She values giving back to her community – currently serving as a board member of the National Alliance for Caregiving, board chair for the Dreamweaver Foundation and vice chair of the Alzheimer’s Association's Dementia Care Provider Roundtable.
