Shelley leads our firm’s employment practice and our COVID-19 task force. Shelley regularly counsels businesses on employment planning and practical business resolutions to employment issues, compliance obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Workers’ Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act and other federal, state and local employment laws. In early March, Shelley began analyzing how COVID-19 was affecting HMB’s clients, and has counseled many businesses in navigating the existing and quickly evolving laws and guidelines regarding COVID-19 and anticipating and planning for how the workplace is and will continue to be affected by COVID-19.

Alicia is also a member of our Covid-19 Task Force focusing on Covid-19 issues relating to employment. Alicia has a cross-disciplinary background in the sciences and social policy often working at the intersection of law, policy and science. As part of HMB's task force, Alicia has been monitoring the daily changes to Covid-19 related legal issues and has been networking with professionals and business owners regarding best business practices during the Covid-19 pandemic.
