APLN-EAF Webinar, "Preemptive Nuclear Attacks on the Korean Peninsula: Fact or Fiction?"
An online discussion between Dr. Peter Hayes, Dr. Morton Halperin, and Dr. Siegfried Hecker, moderated by Professor Moon Chung-in. Cosponsored by the Asia Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Disarmament, and the East Asia Foundation, with support from the Asia Research Fund.

Bob Woodward’s latest book, Rage, reported that the Trump administration discussed the use of as many as 80 nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula, sparking heated debate in Korea and abroad regarding the nature of the U.S. military operational planning in the region. Our panelists will discuss several questions, including whether the U.S. is or was willing to deploy nuclear weapons against the DPRK preemptively, and what the use of nuclear weapons by the DPRK or the U.S. would actually look like. Please join us for a conversation between several prominent experts followed by a Question and Answer session discussing where we are and where we are headed.
