Shade is a luxury for some gardeners and a challenge for others. If you fall into the latter group, don’t give up. A thriving garden in the shade is possible!
Whether you want to spruce up a shady backyard patio, add color to a shaded border or bring life to a woodland path, a well-thought-out design and carefully selected plants are essential.
In this class we will learn strategies to brighten up these areas with plants and non-living elements, meet a wide palette of shade-loving plants that will flourish in filtered light and deep shade, and develop a plan for proper care (watering, fertilizing, etc.) to sustain your new creation.
Our speaker Laura Eyer is an Oregon State University Extension Master Gardener who teaches for the award-winning 10-Minute University™ Program. She designed gardens for others in the past and now gardens at home and on neighbors’ properties, usually with their consent.
