Description
Communicating about Environmental Issues: A webinar series to help farmers make their case on sustainability Climate change impacts, sustainability, environmental protection...these are all things that people are talking about more and more, and farmers should be part of that conversation. Policy makers and customers, including shoppers, grocery stores and food processors, are all wanting more information on these topics. And farmers can help them feel comfortable with their buying decisions. But do you know how to talk about these issues? The New York Dairy Issues Management team invites you to participate in a communication webinar series designed to help farmers feel more confident in talking about how their farm practices protect the environment and mitigate the effects of climate change. You will hear success stories from other farmers, learn what’s next on the horizon, as well as tips and techniques to help you explain what you’re doing in a manner that resonates with the families who buy your products. This series has something for everyone. This free, 4-part webinar series will provide: •Updates on issues the industry is facing, from public perception to policy discussions. •Success stories from farmers who’ve identified solutions that work on their farms – and may for you as well •Technical advice on capturing and editing videos and photos for social media •Advice on being “camera ready” when contacted by the media “Telling your Story” isn’t an option anymore –it’s a critical part of gaining public acceptance, correlating to your continued freedom to operate, and ultimately survive. This series is provided courtesy of the New York Dairy Issues Management team, a collaboration of American Dairy Association North East, Northeast Dairy Producers Association, New York Animal Agriculture Coalition and New York Farm Bureau. The group works collectively to provide communications counsel, resources, and customized assistance to New York’s dairy farmers.
