Dr. Parivash Minou Michlin (Soumekh) has a Doctorate of Social Welfare and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is Professor Emeritus of Social Work at Southern Connecticut State University where she taught for more than 30 years. Dr. Soumekh earned her doctorate from Yeshiva University in New York city. In her private psychotherapy practice her specialty was working with children and families as well as people with physical and developmental disabilities. She began her social work career in Iran where she was the first social worker hired at Kanon Khir Khah, the Jewish hospital in Tehran. Since her retirement, she is an active member of the Emergency Fund/ Social Service Committee of the Iranian American Jewish Federation. Dr. Soumekh—or Minou to those who know her—is married to David Michlin and has two children and five grandchildren.
