Book Breaks with Catherine Choy on Asian American Histories of the United States
The Gilder Lehrman Institute’s weekly program Book Breaks features the most exciting history scholars in America discussing their books with host Gena Oppenheim live, followed by a Q&A with home audiences.

Join us online for a special holiday Book Breaks on Sunday, January 1 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET (11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PT) with Catherine Choy she discusses her book “Asian American Histories of the United States.”

Asian American Histories of the United States is a nearly 200-year history of Asian migration, labor, and community formation in the US. Award-winning historian Catherine Ceniza Choy presents an urgent social history of the fastest growing group of Americans. The book features the lived experiences and diverse voices of immigrants, refugees, US-born Asian Americans, multiracial Americans, and workers from industries spanning agriculture to healthcare.

Catherine Ceniza Choy is a professor of ethnic studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
