His work for the AOP involves providing tailored clinical and regulatory advice to the AOP’s members, and drafting UK-wide guidance on range of topics relevant to optometrists. Henry also acts as a media spokesperson for the AOP and has been interviewed on national radio, television and in print on a range of eye-related topics. In relation to vision and driving, Henry has been closely involved with the AOP’s annual “Don’t Swerve a Sight Test” campaign, which has included articles in print media, and TV appearances on BBC and Sky news channels. Henry has also attended parliamentary round table events aimed at changing the law around vision and driving. Rachel Odell (Centre Manager @Wessex DriveAbility) Rachel Odell joined Wessex Drivability as the Centre Manager in 2018. She leads a team of professional Driving Assessors – a mixture of Approved Driving Instructors and Occupational Therapists – along with a small team of Client Administrators. Wessex DriveAbility is one of 21 of the national Driving Mobility Centres which offer professional information and assessment so disabled and elderly people can gain or retain independence. Rob Heard (Host - Chair of the Older Drivers Forum @Older Drivers Forum) Rob Heard is the founder and Chairperson of the Older Drivers Forum. Rob has previously been in the Police Force for 30 years, being part of the Roads Policing department for 27 years. Rob is passionate about Road Safety and prior to retirement he was the Sergeant in charge of Road Safety for Hampshire and Thames Valley Police. Rob still works with the Police as a volunteer running their Older Drivers programme. He is a member of the National Older Drivers Task Force and chairs the committee looking at self help and support. The task force presented a national strategy to the UK government in July 2016 to give help and support to older drivers to carry on driving safely for longer with some key recommendations. Rob has won numerous national awards for his work with Older Drivers and recently been awarded a lifetime achievement award from Road Safety Support.
