IBMS Support Hubs: Session 3 - Updates on HCPC SOPs & the Registration Portfolio
Following on from her article in The Biomedical Scientist magazine on ‘Assessing Employability Skills’, IBMS Council member, Tahmina Hussain and Sue Jones (IBMS Executive Head of Education), will be presenting the sessions, with a new series of topics to cover some key skill gaps as identified in the recent employability study.

The lunchtime webinars aim to cover several areas of interest for students, graduates and even fully qualified or practicing professionals.

The 3rd Support Hub will be presented by Tahmina Hussain, Sue Jones and Jim Taylor. The session aims to provide support on HCPC Standards of Proficiency (SOPs) and the Registration Portfolio.

Tahmina Hussain
IBMS Council Member
Tahmina is the Deputy Programme Lead for the Biomedical Science Apprenticeship Degree and a Lecturer in Biomedical Science at the University of Salford. Her career as a Biomedical Scientist began in 2009 and has since specialised in Haematology and Blood Transfusion and then worked through a number of roles such as Biomedical Scientist Team Manager, Blood Sciences Training Officer and Pathology Training Coordinator. Tahmina is an IBMS verifier and examiner for registration and specialist portfolios and a module lead for the IBMS Certificate of Expert Practice in Training Qualification. Tahmina is also an IBMS national Council member.
Sue Jones
IBMS Executive Head of Education
Dr Sue Jones joined the IBMS in June 2022 following 20 years in higher education where she developed and led several IBMS accredited BSc Biomedical Science programmes. Sue has extensive experience of supporting students in their studies and in preparing them for undertaking placements, or starting their careers following graduation. In her current role, Sue leads all aspects of pre-registration training and education at the IBMS for students, trainees and apprentices.
Jim Taylor
Head of Digital Education
Dr Jim Taylor joined the IBMS in January 2023 after a successful 20-year career in higher education. Jim has taught on a range of bioscience qualifications from GCSE to Masters level, and most recently led an IBMS accredited BSc Biomedical Science programme. Jim has extensive experience of digital education and digital pedagogy, working across the professional life science sector. In his current role, Jim will lead all aspects of digital education for the IBMS.
