Debt & Fiscal Governance Webinar: Open Government Partnership (OGP) Wednesday, January 12, 10 am EST / 3 pm GMT
On Wednesday, January 12th at 10 am EST, EMIA’s Debt & Fiscal Governance Program will host Joseph Foti, Chief Research Officer at the Open Government Partnership (OGP).

This panel will discuss how open government makes a difference for public policies and investors, and how investors can use the OGP to encourage governments to improve transparency, civic participation, and public accountability. These factors in turn tend to improve environmental, social, and governance outcomes.

The OGP is the world’s premier international forum that aims to secure national-level governance reforms to improve government transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to citizens. The OGP brings together government and civil society champions of reforms who believe that governments are more effective when they open their doors to public input and oversight.

Since the OGP’s launch, its membership has grown from 8 to 79 countries, 20 local governments, and thousands of civil society organizations. OGP countries represent one-third of the world’s population and have made nearly 4,000 policy commitments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance.

Joseph Foti is Chief Research Officer of the Open Government Partnership. He leads the Analytics and Insights team which is responsible for major research initiatives. He also manages the OGP’s data resources and ensures quality control. For more than a decade he has led research and accountability efforts across a range of sustainable development issues. He has expertise in environmental policy, impact assessment, justice reform, civic space, and access to information. His most recent role was Chief Editor of the OGP’s first global report, Democracy Beyond the Ballot Box.
