Laila B. Hishaw, DDS, FAAPD
Dr. Laila Hishaw is a thought leader and change agent for diversity in dentistry. After earning her DDS with honors in Pediatric Dentistry from UMKC School of Dentistry, she specialized in pediatric dentistry at UT Health—San Antonio. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and will be inducted into the International College of Dentists (ICD) in Fall 2021. In 2018, Dr. Hishaw founded the national nonprofit, Diversity in Dentistry Mentorships Inc. to encourage Black and other students from underrepresented groups to consider careers in dentistry through mentoring.
Jaha Howard, DDS, MS
Love God and love people” is Dr. Jaha Howard’s motto. As a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist and owner of A+ Pediatric Dentistry of Atlanta, he works with families of all backgrounds to achieve excellent oral health. Dr. Howard earned both his B.S. and DDS at Howard University. He later earned his pediatric dentistry certificate and M.S. in Oral Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009. Dr. Howard then moved back to his hometown in Georgia where he has worked collaboratively with solution-oriented parents, educators, and policy makers to help address some of the biggest challenges present in his community. His dental and public education work have been featured on several media outlets and print publications. He lives in Smyrna with his wife of 14 years and their three children. They worship at Renaissance Church of Christ where Dr. Howard serves as a church deacon and teacher.
Karan Estwick, DDS, FAAPD
Dr. Karan (Estwick) is a board-certified pediatric dentist and private practitioner and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Her area of focus is dental missions around the world. She gained both her dental degree and pediatric dentistry training at Columbia University/ New York Presbyterian hospital.
