A Closer Look at Immigration and Human Trafficking with Bandak Lul, Arizona State University School of Social Work
Immigrants and refugees often face hardships such as isolation, language barriers and unknown surroundings, all of which can make an individual more vulnerable to trafficking. Join Bandak Lul as he shares some of his research findings on the characteristics and techniques of human traffickers of refugees and migrants, and labor traffickers in the United States. Together we will explore:
- Factors that can make immigrants and refugees particularly vulnerable to trafficking, and how traffickers leverage those vulnerabilities
- Possible barriers to immigrants and refugees leaving their trafficking situation, accessing services and/or asking for help
- Best practices for identifying and engaging with immigrants and refugees who could be victims of human trafficking
