Health Poverty Action, along with allied organizations are delighted to host a side-event to highlight the challenges and benefits of implementing a legal regulation model using a development lens, particularly related to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As more jurisdictions move towards cannabis regulatory frameworks, there is a greater emphasis on how resources and lessons can be channeled towards health, social and economic justice, and respect for human rights.
This side event will highlight innovative studies taking place, lessons learned from jurisdictions with legal regulation and bills which have been presented by legislators from around the world. Each presentation will provide a brief overview of diverse projects, legislative initiatives or studies that are engaging with the topic of legal regulation to strengthen sustainable development.
The side event will demonstrate possible outcomes of innovative policies which put people at the centre and address issues with a pragmatic and evidence based approach that bring science and community wisdom together with the common objective of building and transitioning to more just societies in order to improve Member State implementation of the SDGs.
