Debt Cancellation as Anti-Racism in times of Black Lives Matter protests
In 2019, the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests in the USA spread across the world and resonated in many different contexts: demonstrators in Africa, Europe, South America and Asia stood in solidarity with U.S. protesters, thereby connecting the BLM movement to their own contextual experiences of colonialism, racism, poverty and state violence. The resonance of these demonstrations is an indication that, despite their regional differences, threats and challenges in most contexts were inter-connected.

This 90 minute webinar will be an opportunity to discuss the links between the BLM movement and global protests, and explore how debt cancellation for African and other developing countries can be an instrument for overcoming racism.
