Tropical Paradise or Desert Island? Understanding Precipitation Variability on Catalina Island with Conservation Operation Director Laura Minuto
When imagining islands, one often pictures a lush, green, tropical paradise or a bleak and desolate wind-swept desert island. Catalina Island, situated just 20 miles from mainland California, embodies each of these extremes if you know where, and when, to look. In this talk we explore long-term precipitation data at multiple locales on the island, and discuss how these datasets help us better understand, and manage, Catalina’s wildlands.
