Inkjet Head Technology Explained
Description
Next in our Inkjet Explainer series, we're tackling printhead technology. For all inkjet print systems, getting the right ink and head combination is critical to the print quality and reliability of the system. In some cases the head is part of a pre-built system, and in other cases you can select heads to retrofit your commercial press or to build an industrial or bespoke system based on your application needs.
In production document applications, head selection is based primarily on speed and resolution. By contrast, heads for industrial printing are more likely chosen based on necessary fluid properties related to the application. Understanding print head options is key to success throughout the evaluation or development process for any inkjet print activity. If you are a developer, integrator, or a PSP, it is important to understand how the type of printheads you use or choose, affects the overall outcome of the project. Attendees will learn:
Fundamentals of different head technology (CIJ, piezo, thermal)
Compatibility with ink types
Suitability for application segments
