"Proud to Be" Virtual Reading & Roundtable with Mark Bowden

Join us on Wednesday, January 25th at 6:30 pm (Central Time), for an integrated virtual reading and roundtable discussion based on Volume 11 of "Proud to Be: Writing by American Warriors." Mark Bowden, contributing writer at "The Atlantic" and the author of "Black Hawk Down" and "Huế 1968," will moderate the conversation with our PTB11 presenting contributors.

Our discussion will touch on several subjects. They include the value of veterans, military members, and their families offering readers their experiences and creative thinking in print, how military service experiences influence writing, and advice on how readers can read and consider a true war story. Our moderator will also answer some questions from contributors.

Published in partnership with Southeast Missouri State University Press, the "Proud to Be" series provides hundreds of veterans, military personnel, and their family members from across the nation a platform to share their stories through writing and photography. Each volume results from a juried competition, and Mark Bowden served as one of the writing competition judges for the first volume.

Bowden’s original connection to the series and his experience in journalism and military-based writing make this thoughtful and engaging discussion with our veteran writers an event you won’t want to miss!
