People with lived experience of eating disorders and their supports have told us that finding and connecting with clinicians experienced in eating disorders is often difficult, impacting on early intervention and personal recovery journeys. Funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, ANZAED and NEDC have worked closely with clinicians, people with lived experience and the sector to develop criteria for a Credential for mental health professionals and dietitians providing treatment for people with eating disorders.
The ANZAED Eating Disorder Credential will provide formal recognition of qualifications, knowledge, training, and professional development activities needed to meet minimum standards for delivery of safe and effective eating disorders treatment. Once credentialed, clinicians will be given access to an online platform to build a clinician profile, which will enable people experiencing eating disorders, their families and supports, as well as referrers, to find and connect with clinicians and their practice – empowering access to the right treatment at the right time.
Professional Development Packages which include free training and supervision opportunities will also be available for clinicians who only meet part of the criteria or are just starting out their practice in eating disorders.
Applications for the ANZAED Eating Disorder Credential and Professional Development Packages will open on 24th November 2021.
This free Information Webinar is for clinicians, private practices, public health providers, eating disorder services, organisations and professional bodies to find out more about the credential criteria, the application process and available training opportunities.
