Advanced FLSA: Managing Firefighters' Hours in the 21st Century - Off-The-Clock Work

This program will focus on 21st Century wage and hour issues facing the fire service, including the off-duty use of technology to complete reports, the sending and receiving of work-related emails and text messages, on-call time, training activities while off-duty, and compensation for shift-overlaps. This advanced FLSA program will addresses the major cases and current trends related to "off-the-clock" work for firefighters, fire officers, EMS personnel, and other public safety personnel.

Lead Instructor: Bill Maccarone, JD, MS.
Bill Maccarone has over twenty years’ experience as a firefighter. In addition to working career Captain for the North Kingstown RI fire department, Bill is a practicing attorney. Bill received his JD from Roger Williams University School of Law and a Master’s of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island in labor relations and human resources in 2012. Bill is licensed to practice law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
