Every year, over 650,000 individuals return to their communities from correctional institutions. When they return, they face immense challenges that make it difficult for them to reintegrate in their community and find viable employment opportunities. Organizations that are most effective in serving individuals who are justice-involved offer a variety of services that help these individuals tap into their strengths, assets, and aspirations. These organizations are often deeply connected into the local, regional, or national reentry workforce ecosystem.
Recognizing this, public and private organizations are devoting more effort and resources towards developing city, county, state, and nation-wide efforts to streamline coordination of reentry workforce services. For this session we will be hearing from Dorenda Hamarlund, Workforce Development Specialist, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and Parole Board, Troy Vaughn, Executive Director, Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership (LARRP) and Amberly Chalberg, Associate Director of Community Reentry, Colorado Department of Corrections.
