E-Cigarettes and Maine Youth

This 1 hour webinar is a collaboration between CTI and the Maine CDC. We will discuss the prevalence and health risks of e-cigarettes and highlight data gathered from the 2021 Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey (MIYHS).

• Describe what e-cigarettes are, what they look like and how they are used.
• Explain the health risks and concerns of e-cigarette use.
• Review e-cigarette data trends among Maine youth from the Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey.
• Describe various resources available in Maine.

Korey Pow Haggerty (she/her/hers) earned her Master of Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health in 2019 focusing on epidemiology and biostatistics. Since 2019, she has worked at the Maine CDC coordinating the Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey, a data source for youth attitudes and behaviors around various health topics among Maine students in grades 5-12.

Bonnie Carleton (she/her/hers) earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2015. She is also credentialed as a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES). Bonnie has worked at MaineHealth for 7 years and recently joined the Center for Tobacco Independence team as a Tobacco Treatment and Prevention Educator.
