Khumalo (Chief Operations Officer @Presidential Climate Commission) Dr Khumalo is the Chief Operations Officer at the Secretariat of the Presidential Climate Commission. She is the former Deputy Director-General responsible for Climate Change and Air Quality in the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment and Chief Director: Air Quality Management and the National Air Quality Officer. Before joining the Department of Environmental Affairs in 2009 as Director: Atmospheric Policy, Regulation and Planning, she was a Senior Environmental Scientist at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Science from the University of the Witwatersrand and has recently completed a Master of Philosophy in Corporate Strategy at the Gordon Institute of Business Science. Elena Botvina (Affairs Officer @Division of Investment & Enterprise of UNCTAD) Elena Botvina is an Economic Affairs Officer at the Division of Investment & Enterprise of UNCTAD, working on harmonization and comparability of sustainability reporting in attainment of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with a view to facilitate sustainable investment and inclusive growth. She conducted extensive economic research on sustainability and SDG reporting as well as coordinated development of the case studies on measuring the contribution of the private sector to the implementation of the SDGs. Elena leads technical cooperation project on enabling policy frameworks for enterprise sustainability and SDG reporting in the African region. She also facilitates the work of UNCTAD as a co-custodian for developing metadata guidance and the methodology for the SDG target 12.6.1. Her previous experience relates to working in multinational organizations providing expertise in credit ratings, audit and reporting including Fitch Ratings and KPMG. Adv. Rory Voller (Commissioner @CIPC) dv Rory Voller is the Cabinet appointed Commissioner of the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) of South Africa. The CIPC is the Registrar and regulator of Company and Intellectual property legislation. He was a member of the legislative drafting team for both the New South African Companies Act and the Regulations, the Companies Amendment Act as well as the Intellectual Property Amendment Act on Traditional Knowledge. Adv Voller holds a BA (Law), LLB, LLM (Commercial Law Masters - Specialisation), from the University of Kwazulu – Natal as well the University of South Africa and is an admitted Advocate of the High Court, Transvaal Provincial Division. Earl Steyn (Director @Draftworx) Earl is a qualified CBA(SA) that completed articles within a large firm environment and has been serving the profession for more than 10 years. Drawing on his IT knowledge and experience as an accountant he has developed a revolutionary accounting software suite that’s now operating in 22 countries and assist companies to automate the iXBRL filing process. Nicolaas van Wyk (Chief Executive Officer @Southern African Institute for Business Accountants) Nicolaas is a skilled CEO experienced in the Professional Body and NPO industry with demonstrated success in enhancing organisational reputation, recognition and member growth. More than 10 years of making substantial impacts with forward-thinking, resourceful and adaptable strategies. Successful at understanding markets, key business decisions and financial operations. Key characteristics are originality, energy, and a drive to build or design improved organisations that can deliver meaningful impact, by finding solutions and fixing problems. My biggest contribution to a new employer will be as charismatic individual who will serve as the public image of the organization, showcasing and defending its strengths, backed up by knowledge and understanding of their industry and business model. BCom, BCom Hons, MBA, Dipl Corporate Law, BAP(SA), CFO(SA), Area President Africa (IAFEI) Dr. Suresh Kana (Trustee @IFRS Foundation) Dr Kana serves as a trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation. He is the deputy chair of the Integrated Reporting Committee of South Africa and ex-chairman of the King Committee on Corporate Governance. He is the chairman of the Independent Oversight Advisory Committee of the UN World Food Programme and serves as a Chair and non-executive director on a number of listed company boards. He is a trustee of The Constitutional Court Trust. Dr Kana was the CEO of PwC Africa, chairman of SAICA, deputy chair of IRBA, board member of the IAASB of IFAC and chairman of the South-African standard-setter, the Financial Reporting Standards Council. Nico Schutte (Head of Corporate Education @Regenesys) Full professor Nico Schutte is the Head of Corporate Education at Regenesys Business School. He holds two PhD’s viz (Public Management and Industrial Psychology). Prof Schutte has published extensively on topics like Organisational Change, Strategy, Talent Management, and Public Management just to name a few. In 2016 Prof Schutte won the highest accolade by the South-African Board of People’s Practices for his contribution and ground-breaking work on Human Resources within the African setting. Besides his work with Universities like the North-West University, University of Johannesburg, Studio, UNISA, and University of Limpopo to name a few, Prof Schutte also holds the distinction of being named an extraordinary professor at the Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands where he frequently teaches. Dr Maria Nonyana-Mokabane (Chief Director @Legislative drafting unit for DTIC) My name is Dr. Maria Ria Nonyana-Mokabane, a Chief Director in the Legislative Drafting Unit of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic), South Africa. I hold the following legal qualifications: B. Procurationis, LLB, LLM, LLD, a Diploma in International Protection of Human Rights, a Certificate in Executive Management, a Certificate in American and International law and a Certificate in Corporate Governance. I serve as a member of the Access to Justice Programme with the South African Human Rights Commission, a Judge for the Africa-Regional Moot Court on Space Law. I am the representative of the dtic in the Inter-governmental Working Group at the United Nations Human Rights Council on Transnational Corporations and Other Business Entities on Business and Human Rights. Also, the focal coordinator to UNCTAD’s technical cooperation Development Account project on enterprise sustainability and reporting towards the SDGs in Africa and Latin America. Dr. Elena Balbekova (Economic, Energy and Climate Change Advisor @British Embassy) Elena has more than 12 years of experience in corporate and international law, international relations, civil society activities, environment, capital markets, government reforms. Substantial experience in managing NGOs, different roles in various nonprofit organizations, work in the government dealing with major international stakeholders. Experience in Chinese SOE (State Grid of China). A Master degree in Public administration at London School of Economics and Political Science and a PhD degree in one of the best universities of Asia (Peking University) allowed Elena to gain insights into the international and European political and public affairs, study best practices in public policy and management, master sustainability in the developing world. PhD research and degree focused on energy transition in the context of Paris Agreement. David Wray (President @DFCG International Group) President of the DFCG International Group David has held finance executive roles in the technology and telecommunication industry for 25 years, and is a President within the French CFO network organization. He is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant, lecturer, has published several finance articles and is the bestselling author of The Power of Potential.
