Latinos Making Waves in the Alternative Protein Space
Latinos(as) are significantly impacting the future of food, particularly in alternative protein. The rapidly growing sector is filled with innovative, unsung Latino(a) leaders who are changing the experience of traditional animal protein by focusing on Alt-proteins and changing our planet for the better.There have been a lot of headlines in the past year about industry growth, and for good reason. Alternative protein companies are growing fast, offering consumers an exciting product alternative to traditional proteins like beef and chicken.

A recent study from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) estimates that the larger effort to decarbonize Latin America and the Caribbean as an economic region could add 19 million new jobs in the plant-based industry, driven by mass dietary changes underway. Another recent study, where the multinational ingredients provider Ingredion surveyed consumers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Peru, showed that 90% of that population wants to add more plant-based foods to their diet.

This session covers Latin American leaders, how they are positioned to impact the global food tech industry, and the opportunities for investors, entrepreneurs, and consumers alike.
