Bechtel Cavendish Nuclear Solutions (BCNS) is working with Sellafield Ltd on the PFCS project, which dating back to the 1950’s is a store for nuclear waste and is regarded as one of the most hazardous facilities in Western Europe. The first of a kind work has included creating a safe access route to the waste along with the remotely operated capability to retrieve the wastes from the silos.
The project has been praised in a report for the Cabinet Office report on collaborative public procurement for its focus on creating a collaborative and innovative relationship, unlocking the capabilities of each organisation. The Project has cut 15 months off a 5-year schedule and saved the taxpayer 120m. The project is now moving toward retrieval operations which will be a significant milestone for the partners and the local community.
With a Nuclear Sector Deal targeting 20% cost reductions in nuclear decommissioning, this webinar will focus on lessons learned on the collaborative approach between which has made this project such a success.
