Cobourg & District Historical Society Presentation entitled "Mina Benson Hubbard : Trek Across Labrador"
Mina Benson Hubbard (April 15, 1870 - May 4, 1956) was born on an apple farm in Bewdley, Ontario and was the first white woman to travel and explore the back-country of Labrador. She accomplished what her husband was unable to when his expedition was cut short by his death in 1903. Mina was the first to accurately map the Nascaupee and George River systems in 1905. She was a trailblazer who lived an adventurous life.
