The Influence Of Nutrition & Physical Activity on Overweight & Obesity: Towards a sustainable prevention of obesity through integrated strategies
Good nutrition, physical activity, and a healthy body weight are essential parts of a person’s overall health and well-being. Together, these can help decrease a person’s risk of developing serious health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, cancer and obesity. A healthful diet, regular physical activity, and achieving and maintaining a healthy weight also are paramount to managing health conditions, so they do not worsen over time. During these uncertain times, it may be easier to forget the importance to #RemainActive, especially while working from home. This could well impact a person’s physical and mental health, having also ill-fated consequences in terms of work productivity.

This event aims to get first-hand insights from European policymakers on the concrete actions that the European institutions will propose to tackle the rise of obesity rates in the EU. With obesity estimated to cost around €70m per year to health systems alone, our approach to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of obesity and its related complications would need to be reevaluated. Envisage a sustainable approach on the prevention of obesity through integrated strategies at the EU level would also be key. Leading experts on obesity and nutrition will take a fresh look at obesity and discuss our approach from prevention to diagnosis.
