Attorney Jessica D. Thomas graduated from Barry University School of Law and was sworn into the Florida Bar in 2011. She committed to and has made a significant difference in the legal profession. She has been a Pro Bono Guardian Ad Litem, speaking for the best interest of children who have been Abused, Abandoned or Neglected, since she started practicing. In fact, in 2018 she received the Elizabeth Susan Khoury Guardian Ad Litem Award of Excellence from the Orange County Legal Aid Society for her contributions. This experience allows her to serve as a private GAL in several counties across Central Florida in an array of cases from domestic, insurance and even emancipation. She goes further in her support of fair access to the law for her community by dedicating 100s of hours to the Orange County Self Help Center since its opening. Her private boutique law firm has been in operation since 2015 servicing family law and adoption clients across several counties.

Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association Orlando, Florida Litigation Director/Senior Staff Attorney January 2020 – Present Manage law library, case management system, and legal research contracts. Standardize procedures for staff attorneys, improvement of grant reporting on outcomes, supervision and support including accountability standards for staff attorneys. Manage domestic violence and victims of crime grants. Serve as the Lead VOCA Attorney and FCADV Clearinghouse Attorney. Represent domestic violence survivors in contested and uncontested family law matters, including dependency. Handle probate and child’s best interest cases. Provide legal advice regarding family, housing, immigration, consumer, and, public benefits issues. Substitute for the Intake Coordinator on a regular basis. Provide technical assistance to pro bono attorneys. Conduct community outreach. Participate in Citizen Dispute Settlement Program.
