Technology and the internet have always been an important resource in helping children and youth access information, stay connected with family and friends, and reach out for help when needed. However, it also provides a gateway for predators and traffickers to target, groom, and exploit many children and youth. As we are all responding to Covid-19 and living in a more “virtual” world, many children and youth have increased internet usage and increased unsupervised access. Sexual predators are using this to their advantage and young people are more at risk than ever before.
Join StolenYouth, an organization focused entirely on ending commercial sexual exploitation of children, on October 15th to hear local and national experts, including U.S. Associate Deputy Attorney General and National Coordinator for Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Stacie B. Harris, discuss the current reality of online sex trafficking and provide answers to what we can all do to stop these crimes and keep our kids and friends safe.
