The Sanctuary of Self-Care in the Digital Age
What does self-care have to do with bringing balance into our screen-filled lives? As it turns out, quite a lot! When we embrace the ethics of caring lovingly for ourselves, our relationship to the use of devices naturally shifts to what supports and gives balance to our lives.

Give yourself the gift of our September Action Network Live! online event, designed for parents, educators, and anyone who has shouldered the stress of supporting children during the pandemic. Psychologist and educator Susan McNamara will help us preserve self-care in uncertain times. During this experiential hour, we will explore simple practices and common sense perspectives that not only help us to decide the if’s and when’s around how we use tech, but that ultimately bring us into relationship with what matters most to us.

Susan McNamara, M.A., CHHC is a Certified Holistic Health Counselor and Professional-Level Kripalu Yoga Teacher. Susan is trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. Susan is an adjunct professor at Westfield State University where she explores with her students the impact technology is having on their health and well-being as part of an overall curriculum on stress reduction. Susan authored a monthly column for The Daily Hampshire Gazette entitled Kids & Screens and has just completed her first book, Remembering What Matters Most: A Conscious Approach To Technology. For almost twenty-five years, Susan has been contemplating, researching, and most importantly, living the questions around how to meet real human needs in the Digital Age, while aligning with life-affirming values.
