Globally and nationally, the trend in heat-trapping CO 2 emissions from the transport
sector has remained the most obstinate and rising. Motorisation, bigger cars, growing freight intensity and urban sprawl have kept the emissions curve bullish. All regions across the world are battling this trend. Only a very high level of ambition for zero emissions and transformational changes in the way we way travel and commute can bend the emissions curve.
Solutions are emerging, but they have not yet been able to attain the scale that it takes to mitigate. Yet, it becomes necessary to understand the emerging solutions, what’s working and not to inform and shape the future policies.
