Autism Friendly Schools Pilot Evaluation Launch
In 2019 AsIAm - Ireland's National Autism Charity, launched a pilot education project on a national scale; The Autism Friendly Schools Project. Over the last 3 years, this initiative has been developed by AsIAm CEO Adam Harris, collaborator and post-primary principal Billy Redmond and AsIAm Training Manager Hannah O'Dwyer. Since 2019, the AFS Project has been run on a yearly basis and we have engaged over 200 primary and post-primary schools in the Republic of Ireland through this project, to support the development of a school culture which is meaningfully inclusive of autistic students.

In 2021, AsIAm commissioned a research study in partnership with the Department of Educational Psychology, Inclusive & Special Education in Mary Immaculate College, U.L. This study was published in December 2021 and we are delighted to report that the impact this project has had in schools has been overwhelmingly positive, based on the research findings.

This event will launch the report within the education sector and we are very excited to have Minister for Special Education and Inclusion Josepha Madigan attending as a key-note speaker at this event, as well as speakers from the MIC research team and the AsIAm project coordinators.
