As the September 14th recall election draws nearer, Root & Rebound is calling this Community Forum to give voters a better understanding of the impacts of a successful recall on criminal legal reform policies, specifically on the reentry population. This election could unleash a lot of uncontemplated actions and consequences on the progress the state has made in not only advancing criminal legal reform policies but also immigrant rights, racial justice, LGBTQ rights, and students’ rights.
Please join us on Wednesday, September 1st from 6 - 7 p.m. for a community forum to ask your questions about the recall election and its impacts on criminal justice reform. The event will be facilitated by Gail Yen, California Policy Director at Root & Rebound, and will be joined by the following panelists:
· Natasha Minsker, Policy Consultant, Minsker Consulting
· Gavrilah Wells, Activist/Family member, Anti-Death Penalty Coalition
· Claudia Gonzalez, Policy Advocate & Economic Security Coach, Root & Rebound
· Ashleigh Dennis, UC Irvine Law Public Service Fellow, Root & Rebound
