Learn at Lunchtime: Pennsylvania’s Diverse Weather

Pennsylvania is very diverse, and that includes our weather. With all four seasons comes a wide variety of weather across the Commonwealth. Join us as we talk to Jeff Jumper, Resiliency Program Manager within the Bureau of Recovery at the PA Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), to discuss some of our weather normal and some of our extremes. From tornadoes to floods, we’ll take a look through the Pennsylvania weather almanac.

Presentations begin at 12:15 PM and will last approximately 20 minutes followed by a question and answer session.

The Learn at Lunchtime programs are presented over Zoom and are free, but registration is required. Once registration is complete, attendees will receive an attendance link and password for all of the programs listed.


Jeff Jumper is the Resiliency Program Manager within the Bureau of Recovery at the PA Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), a role which he began in December 2022. Prior to moving to Resiliency, Jeff worked for PEMA as the State Meteorologist since 2015. Through his tenure, Jeff has helped to better prepare the agency and its stakeholders for weather hazards through forecasts, outreach, partnerships, and training.

Previously, Jeff worked for a decade as a broadcast meteorologist with television stations in Pennsylvania, Alabama, and Louisiana, earning the NWA Television Seal of Approval and AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designations, along with the ACCO Climate Change Professional (CC-P) designation. Jeff is a graduate of the National Emergency Management Advanced and Basic academies and has received the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Associate Practitioner Certification. Jeff earned a Master of Science in Emergency Management from Millersville University in 2016, and a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Penn State University in 2006.
