Flood Impact Maps: A standardized Approach of Understanding Vulnerable Landscapes
Climate change has induced extreme weather including floods across the country and almost all major cities. Millions of Canadians currently live in flood-affected areas, and the numbers are projected to rise in the coming years. Until recently, Canadians have not had a nation-wide, standardized way of understanding the vulnerabilities of their own landscapes. In this webinar, Professor Slobodan Simonovic of Western University will discuss flood impact maps that can be used to identify the most vulnerable areas in one-square-kilometre grid segments: areas where rivers are most likely to overflow their banks, and by how much.
