A Career Path Unplanned: From High School Math Class to Civil Engineer to Global Real Estate Projects" with Sheryl Mordo, PE, BS Civil Engineer, Senior Program Manager at Intuit
You will want to hear about Sheryl Mordo's path from taking science classes at Deer Valley High School to UC Davis where she studied civil engineering, and had an internship at DisneyWorld! She started her career with a large construction firm as a project engineer, then worked for a boutique construction management firm managing complex construction projects for large clients. Sheryl earned a Professional Certificate in Project Management at UCB Extension, and currently works for Intuit designing and managing projects to house Intuit employees all over the world. Learn about the challenges she faced, major accomplishments, and what she actually does day to day at Intuit. And get some insight as to what future workplaces may look like, and how companies are responding to challenges brought by the pandemic.

This series is free and open to all high school girls (and boys too) who want to know how one gets from taking science, computer, and math classes to choosing a career in STEM and getting a job after college. This webinar series is presented by AAUW-OML with a grant from the Bettelheim Family Foundation. You'll meet women in STEM careers sharing their story and how you too can find your passion in a STEM career.

PE (Professional Engineer); B.S Civil Engineering from UC Davis; Professional Certificate in Project Management from UC Berkeley Extension. LEED Accredited Professional LEED BD + C. (LEED is Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Currently Senior Project Manager at Intuit (known for its TurboTax and Quickbooks accounting software apps). Sheryl began her career working 4 years as a Project Engineer for Rudolph and Sletten, a large construction company; then 6 years for Nova Partners, a small boutique construction project management firm working on design, permits, and managing the construction project for companies like FaceBook, AAA, Intuit and others. Sheryl has been at Intuit for 4 years working as a Senior Project Manager designing and overseeing Intuit's corporate office projects.
