Archeo-Astrology: A Very Early History of Astrology with Elodie St-Onge-Aubut
About this workshop

This presentation is meant as a loose philosophical exploration of the practice of astrology as a fundamental part of the human experience. Although the official discovery of the Precession of the Equinox is attributed to the Greek Astronomer Hipparchus, there is some evidence through zoomorphic artworks at Neolithic Göbekli Tepe as well as European Palaeolithic cave art, that ancient humans were already aware of the Precession of the Equinoxes. How far back in time can we go to find evidence of humans using planetary cycles to conceptualize their daily lives? Let’s go back in time together to look at ancient star gazing tools, lunar calendars and archeo-astronomical sites to reflect on the inherent role astrology has played in human’s cultural evolution and to acknowledge the contribution of our early ancestors.
