Digital Construction Summit: 10 years of BIM - the lessons learned and the next steps
Digital Construction Summit: 10 years of BIM - the lessons learned and the next steps
19 October 10.30am

A decade on from the launch of the Government Construction Strategy that mandated BIM, we look at how the technology and processes have developed in the industry with the people who have shaped it – plus we ask what the next 10 years will hold. The topics will include:
• A look back at the hopes and expectations for BIM 10 years ago.
• Who have been the fastest adopters and which sectors have seen the most progress?
• The perceived barriers, such as interoperability, esoteric jargon, investment in software, sceptical clients.
• The role of standards and guidance in shaping construction’s digital journey, past and future.
• How BIM will evolve in future – climate change, whole life cycle concerns, data and digital twins.

Speakers:
- Mark Enzer OBE, CTO at Mott MacDonald, & head of the National Digital Twin programme
- John Ford, BIM & digital delivery lead at Galliford Try Construction
- Dr Anne Kemp OBE, technical director at Atkins, & chair of the UK BIM Alliance
- Paul Morrell OBE, former chief construction advisor, led the Government Construction Strategy 2011, now co-chair of the independent review of the system for testing construction products
