Proposed CVSA Enhanced Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Program for Autonomous Motor Carrier Operations

Automated driving systems capable of operating trucks with no driver onboard are already being tested in North America. CVSA’s Enforcement and Industry Modernization (EIM) Committee and its Automated CMV Working Group have been following the development of this technology, recognizing that our North American Standard Inspection Program will need to adapt. This webinar outlines a proposed CVSA Enhanced Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Standard (for motor carrier operations), inspection procedure and training course for trained motor carrier personnel to use to inspect (either prior to or during each trip) trucks or combinations in autonomous operations (no driver onboard) to ensure they have no defects. The EIM committee will be considering this Enhanced Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection for approval at its September 21 meeting, during our CVSA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Rapid City, South Dakota.
