DESCRIPTION: The atrophic maxilla presents significant challenges to periodontists. Severe maxillary atrophy combined with extensive sinus pneumatization often precludes many periodontists from being able to help patients seeking resolution to these crippling dental conditions. Utilization of alternative and remote anchorage sites such as the zygoma affords the opportunity for immediate restoration of such patients with highly effective and biologically sound principles.
