This week's lecture features David Howlett as he explores the people and places involved in the beginning of the early RLDS/Community of Christ in the Philippines. David shares the stories behind the earliest members of the Community of Christ along with Restorationists and Adventists in the United States. David will speak briefly about the founding of Community One Resource Development (CORD) and the founding of Outreach International.

David Howlett
Mellon Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion @Smith College
Dr. David Howlett is the Mellon Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Dr. Howlett earned a B.S.E from the University of Central Missouri, a M.A. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. He is a specialist in American religions and has taught at Kenyon College, Skidmore College, and Bowdoin College. His published works include "Kirtland Temple: The Biography of a Shared Mormon Sacred Space" (2014) and co-authored, "Mormonism: The Basics" (2017). David is one of three official historians for Community of Christ.
