Please join Dr Shiri Krebs, who is an Associate Professor at Deakin University’s Law School, and Research Division Leader (Law, Regulation, and Strategic Policy) at Deakin’s Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation (CSRI) for an online discussion on the concepts of data ownership, data responsibilities, and data rights in the Australian context, and highlights some of the main problems and challenges in this area.
The following topics will be covered:
- Who owns personal data in Australia?
- What are the core definitions and responsibilities shaping Australia’s data governance regime?
- How does Australian law manage the sometimes-conflicting interests of data sharing, data security and data privacy?
To mitigate these problems and improve data governance, Shiri proposes several solutions based on lessons learned from the European Union’s experience in this area.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. This webinar will be recorded and the recording will be made available to registrants.
