Global Black Midwifery Panel and Screening

Black Mamas Matter Alliance and National Black Midwives Alliance are excited to present the Global Black Midwifery Panel and Screening on April 11 at noon EST as an official event of Black Maternal Health Week 2022, while also marking International Day for Maternal Health and Rights. The event will feature a report back from the 2022 Zanzibar Cultural Midwifery Exchange from NBMA Director, Midwife Jamarah Amani. A segment of the documentary, Legacy Power Voice: Movements in Black Midwifery, featuring new footage from Zanzibar, will also be shown.

Panelists Midwife Queen Umm Salaamah Abdullah-Zaimah, Midwife Lodz Joseph-Lemon, Midwife Pandora Hardtman, and Midwife Nafisa Jiddawi will share about their work in Africa and the Caribbean. BMMA Executive Director Angela Aina will moderate the discussion on building an international movement for Black midwifery.
