New technological solutions combined with data driven farming practices are revolutionizing the agriculture landscape, increasing efficiency, significantly improving farmers’ livelihood and conserving resources. While these solutions (precision farming, weather information and soil sensors, satellites and drones) generate valuable data that promote better agric output, boost productivity and overall profitability, aligning them to local needs and context is equally important. On the other hand, sophisticated high-tech equipment, designs and/or systems may not be applicable in the rural areas considering farmers’ low literacy rate.

2. How critical is data to agriculture, food and nutrition security in Sub-Saharan Africa?
