The Ward 8 Democrats has long been a leader in the fight to bring new voting technology to the District. The organization championed vote by mail for more than two decades until enacted during the 2020 general election. But there's another voting option that's part of the Ward 8 Democrats platform: vote by app.
Proponents of remote voting technology believe voting by app would increase voter participation in the District, especially in low-voter turnout precincts. In fact, Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White recently introduced legislation to bring vote by app to the District. But others say not so fast as concerns around voting security and election integrity mount across the country. If not vote by app, then what other ways can we use technology to increase voter engagement and participation in the District.
